Altai Tavan Bogd Base Camp and Malchin Peak
This is a-20-day tour tailored for those as a mix of hiking, climbing, horse riding and cultural taste in one basket. Mongolia's western frontiers with Russia and China are guarded by the snow capped peaks of the Altai Tavan Bogd mountain range, highest in the country. Its highest and most interesting peaks are Khuiten, Nairamdal, Malchin, Snowchurch and Ulgii. The longest glacier of Mongolia, the Potanin glacier stretches for 19km from the eastern face of Mt. Khuiten. On the summit day, when on the top of Khuiten, you will be able to glance into Russia and China. The local Tuvan herders acting as your camel caravan handlers and as porters will make an unforgettable company and share their culture and traditions with you.

Day 1, Fly to Ulgii (flight takes 3 hours)
Arrive in Ulgii around 10 am, and have a break for 2 hours. Drive to Tsambagarav Mountain 100km to the south of Ulgii
and visit Eagle Hunter's family who live near Tsambagarav snowcapped mountain. Overnight in a tent or separate ger next to Eagle Hunter's family.
Day 2, Drive to Ulgii and to Tsengel
Drive to Ulgii. Have lunch and visit local museum and bazaar.
Day 3, TB base camp
After breakfast, start driving towards TB. From Tsengel 110km to the west. Arrive in Entrance Gate to TB mountain. Driving is not allowed to TB base camp. From the Gate it is 12km up to TB base camp. We recommend hiking up to TB base camp as an acclimitization for the next day's climb to Malchin.
Day 4, Malchin
Today, we do non-technical but climbing to Malchin. This is climbing up through steep hill with slipping rocks and snow on the top. You can bring your crampons and trekking poles for walking on the top. Climbing up and down takes 7-8 hours including walk back to BC. Overnight in tents at BC.
Day 5, Spare day around TB
Breakfast at the BC, packing the tents and horse riding down to the Entrance Gate. Visit local Tuvan family. Arrive to the same location where the car was left. Set up tents and overnight.
Day 6, Drive to Ulgii
Breakfast, packing the tents then Drive back to Ulgii and arrive for dinner. Overnight in West Mongolia Ger camp.
Day 7, Fly to UB
Breakfast at the WM ger camp. Check in around 8 am. Take off time is usually 10 am from Ulgii to UB. Flight takes 3 hours.
Roundtrip domestic flights.
A local guide who speaks English, Kazakh and Mongolian and a cook will accompany you at all times. In addition, the services of the local herdsmen will be hired along with their animals. Mountain guide and porters. All of our stuff will be loaded on a camel or a horse depending on size.
